Today a Reading Team of four children took part in the North of England Tournament in the Old Assembly Rooms, Newcastle. The School team was placed third with 86 marks, the winners receiving 88 marks and the Second 87 marks. The judge remarked on the 'fluent and intelligent' reading of the School team & expressed his difficulty in placing the first three schools. Mr Lorimer terminated his duties as School Caretaker today. Reference see note for 2/3/51.

Mr Henderson, who is Caretaker of the Practical Instruction Huts at Monkseaton C. Modern School temporarily takes over the Caretaking of this School. The School Choir (53 Children) takes part in the North of England Musical Tournament today at City Hall, Newcastle upon Tyne. Out of a nine schools entry they were placed third. First School were awarded 176 marks, second School 171 marks and this School 169. This was a highly creditable performance. This Choir and the Reading Team were trained by
