By permission of the Managers & the Local Authority two School Choirs (90 chn) supervised by four members of Staff today competed in the North of England Musical Tournament in the City Hall, Newcastle on Tyne. The Junior Choir (Std 2 group) was placed 5th out of 9 schools and obtained 165 marks, the winning school having 172 marks. The Senior Choir (Std 4 group) was 4th out of 14 schools the marks for the first four choirs being 177, 176, 175 and 174. Miss M C Smith trained these pupils & she is worthy of very high praise for the excellent performances given by these two choirs.
