…ration had been used and attributed this to four fires in the School ( Junior & Infant Depts) when the School coal house was examined it was found to contain five cwts of good coal. Mrs Stewart (Canteen Supervisor) complained to me & Mr Baglee that the Caretaker had failed to clean the Dining Hall since the mid-Term Holiday (14/2/51) and that he kept the inner door to the Boiler House locked so that she could not get the swill bins. The Boiler House was inspected by Mr Baglee, Mrs Stewart, Lorimer & self and we found the inner door sealed with nails and wire. Lorimer said he intended this to keep Canteen staff out of the boiler-house. He also admitted not cleaning the dininghall because he went to bed every afternoon. A turnip was also found secreted in a wooden box but the Caretaker could not explain how it had got there. The boiler house was untidy. Mr Baglee informed Lorimer that the coal & Canteen incidents would be reported to the managers.
