The school lantern was used for the first time to-day. A series of 50 slides of various places in Europe were shown and described to Stds 5 & 6. Improvement in attendance during past week. Percentage 93.7.

Timetable rearranged this afternoon to permit of exhibition of 100 lantern slides of British Isles, and to allow Stds II and III to take drill postponed from this morning owing to weather.

An outbreak of "mumps" and chicken-pox has led to a steady decline in the attendance from 216 at the beginning of the week to 201 to-day. Percentage for week is, however, 91.3.

The School was visited this morning by Mr Treble. All classes were questioned on the work covered by the Syllabus of Religious Instruction. The number of cases of mumps has undergone a further increase, resulting in a decline in the average attendance to 204, and in the percentage to 88.3.
