School closed for Midsummer on July 21st 1939. Miss Ritson terminated her duties as supply teacher. School reopened today. Sixty one children were transferred to the Junior department.

13 November 1939 · A. J. Ayre

Owing to the outbreak of war school closed on Oct. 1st (Friday) and remained closed for three weeks. On Monday, Oct. 25th a system of "house" teaching was begun, each teacher meeting her groups twice a week from 9.30 am till 12 noon & from 2 pm till 3.30 pm. This was possible by the courtesy & kindness of parents who allowed their houses to be used. School reopened on Monday, Nov. 13th, the children working half time.

Miss Wilson, Organiser of Physical Training, visited school today & saw drill in all five classes.

Miss Robison is absent today. She is ill.

Mrs. Bertram began work as supply teacher today.

Miss Robison returned to school today. Mrs. Bertram finished on Friday Dec. 8th.
