…As far as can be ascertained, the majority of the absentees are "contacts", the outbreak being confined to the younger members of the families.

23 January 1914

Average attendance this week = 228, equivalent to a percentage of 81.7. Thirty four children have been absent throughout the entire week.

29 January 1914

Dr Rutherford attended the School to-day for the purpose of inspecting cases of defective eyesight.

30 January 1914

The third quarter of the School year terminates to-day. The average number on the books throughout the quarter has been 294, and the average attendance 257. (= 87.3%). The prevalence of sickness is indicated by the average number present at all, namely 268.

5 February 1914

Miss A. P. Hall, a member of the staff of the infant department of this school, takes the place of Miss Stokes St 2, during the closure of the Infant Dept owing to epidemic troubles.

12 February 1914

W. H. Clothier (Certy St 7) having been selected as a candidate for the Headship of the Belford Presbyterian School, is absent to-day by permission of the Managers for the purposes of an interview with the Belford local committee.
