…considerable proportion of the children have not passed through the school e.g. in the present Standard II 23 only of the 49 children have done so. This lack of stability both amongst the teachers and the children inevitably had some adverse effect upon the standard of work, but under the competent direction of the Head Mistress there has been a good recovery: the work in the top class now reaches a good level, and throughout the school steady progress is maintained.
The main characteristics of the school are the individual methods used in the teaching of Reading and Number, the absence of formalism, and the development of the children along natural lines. Other pleasing features are the prominence given to the teaching of Nature Study which is enlightened, the encouragement of initiative and resource amongst the children and the happy and keen
